CREATING CUSTOM WORKSHEETS:
Sample worksheets were created in Microsoft Word using the following products from Lettering Delights: DB Alphabetic Images, LD Trainer Vertical Lined, LD Trainer Vertical Lined Dot Arrows, LD Trainer Vertical Lined Dots.
In Microsoft Word, open a new document and change page setup options for orientation to "landscape" and margins to "narrow." All text is left-justified.
For the image and title at the top of the worksheet, use DB Alphabetic Images to select a graphic to represent each letter of the alphabet (for example, A= apple image). The font size for the graphic is 100. The text label for the alphabet image is Calibri font, sized to 36 (ex. "A is for apple."). For the sample letter (Aa), use LD Trainer Vertical Lined, sized to 80. Use your tab key to move the sample letters to the right-hand side of the page.
For the upper-case letters on the first practice line, using the LD Trainer Vertical Lined Dot Arrows font, students can see the correct way to write each letter. Sample letters typed using the LD Trainer Vertical Lined Dots are perfect for tracing.
*Each character is followed by a space. Tip: Use your underscore key (_) to connect spaces with the gridlines.
On the second line, enter one more dotted tracing letter for practice using the LD Trainer Vertical Lines Dots font. Then use the underscore key to complete an entire row of gridlines for students to practice writing the upper-case letter on their own. (Remember to use your underscore key to create the gridline.)
On the third and fourth lines, repeat the process for the lower-case letter.
Once your worksheet is built and saved for one letter, it's easy to create sheets for additional letters in the alphabet. You can also create worksheets for students to practice writing simple words (like apple, bat, car, door and egg) or their own name.
